B.Sc Chemistry (Honors)

B.Sc Chemistry (Honors)

The Department of Chemistry is one of the most prestigious departments of the college. It caters to a large number of students of other science disciplines as well. The advanced syllabus exposes students to diverse fields such as Green Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry etc. The Chemistry (Hons.) syllabi is a fine balance of Inorganic, Organic and Physical chemistry along with related fields like Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Computer Science. Emphasis is laid both on fundamental and applied part. This enables the student to opt for any of the specialized field such as Green Chemistry, Environment Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Computational Chemistry ,Nano technology, Bio-technology, Analytical chemistry, Computer application and Instrument handling etc. for higher studies and research or lucrative placement in the industry..The Chemistry and Instrumentation labs allow the students to have hands-on practical training. The Chemistry department organizes seminars and workshops on the latest topics of research. The dedicated faculty of the department believes in interactive relationships with the students

The Chemistry Department endeavours to supplement classroom teaching with invited lectures, workshops, add-on courses, seminars by eminent speakers. Many renowned academicians and scientists have visited the Department from time to time to interact with students. Apart from teaching, a great impetus is given to research activities in the department where faculty members mentor students for various research based projects for various inter and intra-college competitions. The Chemistry department organizes various academic events/competitions and fun activities across the year for the holistic development of students. These are interspersed with institutional and educational visits to nearby industries and laboratories - the recent ones include those  Yakult,Sonipat, Sugar Industries, Central Forensic Science Laboratory and  Patanjali Herbal Gardens (Haridwar).
